Joko Widodo sees ‘fiscal cliff’ risk due to revenue shortfall Joko Widodo (given birth to 21 June 1961), also known as Jokowi, is the seventh and current Leader of Indonesia, in office since 2014. Previously he was Mayor of Surakarta from 2005 to 2012 and Governor of Jakarta from 2012 to 2014. He was officially declared as the winner of the election by the overall Elections Commission rate (Komisi Pemilihan Umum or KPU), receiving more than 53% of the vote over his challenger, Prabowo Subianto, who disputed the results and withdrew from the contest before the count up was completed.[6]Joko Widodo is of Javanese descent.
