After some controversy about the consequence of the election, Jokowi was named as president-elect on 22 July. He was formally announced as the victor of the election by the General Elections Payment (Komisi Pemilihan Umum or KPU), winning more than 53% of the vote over his opposition, Prabowo Subianto, who disputed the outcome and withdrew from the race before the count was completed.[6]Joko Widodo is of Javanese descent. Before changing his name (changes of name aren't unconventional in Java), Jokowi was called Mulyono.[7] His dad came from Karanganyar, his grandparents originated from a village in Boyolali.[8] His education started in State Major Institution 111, Tirtoyoso, known to be a institution for the less rich people.[9] At age twelve, he started working in his father's furniture workshop.[10][11] The evictions he experienced 3 x in his years as a child affected his way of thinking and his authority down the road as the mayor of Surakarta (Solo) as he organised property in the town.[12]Joko Widodo rises from furniture maker to Indonesian PresidentAfter primary university, he persisted his studies in SMP Negeri 1 Surakarta (middle university).[13] He had wished to continue his education in SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta (high school), but he failed the entrance exam and visited SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta instead.[14]Joko Widodo managed to graduate from Faculty of Forestry at Gadjah Mada School, Yogyakarta in 1985 to study and research about the utilization of plywood.Joko Widodo Getty ImagesJokowi began his tenure at a state-owned business company called PT Kertas Kraft Aceh, but travelled home not long after credited to his disinterest.
