Recently he was Mayor of Surakarta from 2005 to 2012 and Governor of Jakarta from 2012 to 2014. He is the first Indonesian chief executive with out a high-ranking politics or military history.[1]Jokowi was nominated by his party, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), to run in the 2012 Jakarta gubernatorial election with Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (generally known as Ahok)[2] as his going partner.[3] Jokowi was elected as Governor of Jakarta on 20 September 2012 after a second round runoff election in which he defeated the incumbent governor Fauzi Bowo.[4]His nomination as PDI-P candidate for the 2014 presidential election was announced on 14 March 2014.[5] The presidential election happened on 9 July 2014. After some controversy about the consequence of the election, Jokowi was known as as president-elect on 22 July. He was formally declared as the winner of the election by the overall Elections Payment (Komisi Pemilihan Umum or KPU), receiving more than 53% of the vote over his opponent, Prabowo Subianto, who disputed the results and withdrew from the competition before the count up was completed.[6]Joko Widodo is of Javanese descent. Before changing his name (changes of name aren't unusual in Java), Jokowi was called Mulyono.[7] His daddy came from Karanganyar, his grandparents originated from a village in Boyolali.[8] His education started in State Key College 111, Tirtoyoso, known for being a school for the less rich individuals.[9] At age twelve, he started out employed in his father's furniture workshop.[10][11] The evictions he experienced 3 x in his years as a child affected his way of thinking and his command down the road as the mayor of Surakarta (Solo) as he organised real estate in the town.[12]Joko Widodo Invited to Visit North Korea  The President PostAfter primary university, he persisted his studies in SMP Negeri 1 Surakarta (middle school).[13] He had wanted to continue his education in SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta (high school), but he failed the entry exam and visited SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta instead.[14]Joko Widodo graduated from Faculty of Forestry at Gadjah Mada School, Yogyakarta in 1985 to study and research about the utilization of plywood.Joko Widodo Invited to Visit North Korea  The President PostJokowi began his tenure at a state-owned venture company called PT Kertas Kraft Aceh, but went home not long after scheduled to his disinterest.
