Joko Widodo (blessed 21 June 1961), also known as Jokowi, is the 7th and current Leader of Indonesia, in office since 2014. Recently he was Mayor of Surakarta from 2005 to 2012 and Governor of Jakarta from 2012 to 2014. He was officially announced as the champion of the election by the General Elections Commission (Komisi Pemilihan Umum or KPU), being successful more than 53% of the vote over his opposition, Prabowo Subianto, who disputed the results and withdrew from the contest before the count was completed.[6]Joko Widodo is of Javanese descent. Before changing his name (changes of name aren't abnormal in Java), Jokowi was called Mulyono.[7] His dad originated from Karanganyar, his grandparents originated from a village in Boyolali.[8] His education started in State Main College 111, Tirtoyoso, known to be a school for the less rich citizens.[9] At the age of twelve, he began working in his father's furniture workshop.[10][11] The evictions he experienced 3 x in his child years affected his thought process and his management later on as the mayor of Surakarta (Single) as he organised enclosure in the city.[12]After primary university, he sustained his studies in SMP Negeri 1 Surakarta (middle school).[13] He had wanted to continue his education in SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta (high school), but he failed the entry exam and visited SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta instead.[14]Joko Widodo graduated from Faculty of Forestry at Gadjah Mada School, Yogyakarta in 1985 to study and research about the utilization of plywood.Jokowi began his tenure at a state-owned enterprise company called PT Kertas Kraft Aceh, but proceeded to go home shortly after credited to his disinterest. He then began doing work for his grandfather's furniture manufacturer, before establishing his own company called Rakabu, whose namesake is the name of his first child.[15]
