Joko Widodo: Mass Media Has a Role in Addressing Hoax NewsJoko Widodo (born 21 June 1961), also called Jokowi, is the seventh and current Leader of Indonesia, in office since 2014. Previously he was Mayor of Surakarta from 2005 to 2012 and Governor of Jakarta from 2012 to 2014. After some controversy about the result of the election, Jokowi was known as as president-elect on 22 July. He was formally declared as the winner of the election by the overall Elections Payment (Komisi Pemilihan Umum or KPU), winning more than 53% of the vote over his opponent, Prabowo Subianto, who disputed the outcome and withdrew from the competition before the matter was completed.[6]Joko Widodo is of Javanese descent. Before changing his name (changes of name aren't abnormal in Java), Jokowi was called Mulyono.[7] His father originated from Karanganyar, his grandparents came from a town in Boyolali.[8] His education started out in State Principal College 111, Tirtoyoso, known for being a university for the less wealthy individuals.[9] At the age of twelve, he began employed in his father's furniture workshop.[10][11] The evictions he experienced 3 x in his youth affected his thought process and his management down the road as the mayor of Surakarta (Single) as he organised casing in the town.[12]Joko Widodo by Paul Wolfowitz: TIME 100  Time.comAfter primary university, he continuing his studies in SMP Negeri 1 Surakarta (middle college).[13] He had wished to continue his education in SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta (senior high school), but he failed the access exam and went to SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta instead.[14]Joko Widodo managed to graduate from Faculty of Forestry at Gadjah Mada School, Yogyakarta in 1985 to study and research about the utilization of plywood.Joko WidodoJokowi began his tenure at a state-owned business company called PT Kertas Kraft Aceh, but travelled home shortly after credited to his disinterest. Then began working for his grandfather's furniture factory, before establishing his own company called Rakabu, whose namesake is the name of his first child.[15]
